Kyle Pearl is an American cellist, composer, and educator based out of the Miami area. Originally from Wisconsin, Kyle began his musical studies at the age of eight with his public school orchestra program. He began studying the cello and started composing shortly thereafter. He continued his musical education Frost School of Music at the University of Miami to pursue majors in cello performance, composition and music theory.
As a composer, Kyle specializes in acoustic chamber music. He recently had his works “Bello Preciso” for solo cello, and “The Great Egret” for cello and piano, performed by himself and international competition winning pianist Aaron Petit in their joint recital in the fall of 2019. Kyle has also written for Transient Canvas, with his piece “Rondo with Wanderlust” being performed by the group in the fall of 2020.
As a cellist, Kyle regularly performs music ranging from Bach to Berio, in both a soloistic and ensemble setting. He frequently performs contemporary works with Ensemble Ibis of the Frost School of Music, and collaborates with composers to create new works for the cello. Every summer since 2020 Kyle has organized a call for scores. These calls have been free to the composers and provided all selected works with performances and recordings. Recently, he has been reviewed by the South Florida Classical Review for his performance with Ensemble Ibis, the review stating, "Kyle Pearl’s burnished cello solo . . . encompassed the work’s passionate moods."
As an educator, has actively taught cello lessons for the past five years professionally. He greatly enjoys teaching, and generally works best with late middle and high school students. He is extremely experienced in audition, competition, and performance preparation.
In the past, he has had students get into highly acclaimed youth orchestras (including Midwest Young Artists Conservatory), compete in chamber music competitions (including Rembrandt Chamber Musicians Annual High School Chamber Music Competition), and win concerto competitions (including the Racine Symphony Young Artists' Competition.
